Our company hails its name from ancient Ellopia, located in north-western Greece near the oracle of Dodona.
We chose the name because it symbolizes an authentic, primordial Greece. It expresses our continuing quest for the intrinsic, true tastes of Greece that capture a deeper sense of the country’s true identity.
We firmly believe that traditional Greek agriculture that still exists in the countryside carries within itself a distilled experience and knowledge that has developed through the centuries.
In a globalised era, we value tradition and local production. This is why we only cooperate with small, local producers from the Greek countryside who still use traditional, artisanal techniques to produce their goods – methods that are both sustainable & environmentally friendly and give the best results in taste and nutritional value. These people are specialists in their fields, and have often been practicing their profession for more than three generations. We rigorously check every stage of the production process, and, at the same time, participate ourselves in the production whenever possible. We keep on exploring and discovering old apiculture and agriculture techniques, forgotten flavours and timeless nutritional wisdom.
Our priority lies with quality rather than quantity. Our production is limited, so as to ensure the high quality of our products.
Because of that, our selection of foods is exclusively produced in places that are known for producing certain goods for ages, such as the Cyclades islands, Euboea and the mountainous National Parks of Epirus, far away from anything that could act detrimentally to the taste and overall quality of the final product, all while maintaining traditional production techniques wherever possible.
